In Memory

Kristen Tischendorf

15th April 1923 - 15th October 2004

As the son of a sea captain, my dad had a traveler's nature and the spirit of an adventurer all his life. He went from south Georgia to Spitsbergen in the north and from east China to Hawaii in the west! I will always remember him for his curiosity and interest in people and cultures, and he was a living well of all kinds of stories. He took always a genuine interest in my life. One of my fond memories is when he and my mum proudly witnessed my ordination on Kauai in 1996! Growing up without an ordinary home, family came to mean a lot to him. But what he has taught me is that family is in how you open your heart to another person and not a lable on who you grow up with!

Dear dad, you will always be in my heart!

Anne-Kristine Tischendorf

Aloha International is getting ready for our 31st Makahiki Celebration, to be held in November on Kauai. Great workshops and a chance to see your friends from around the world and make new ones. Advanced Huna Healing and a Kino Mana Teacher Training will also be held in November and December! Something for everyone and all on the beautiful island of Kauai. There is still time to sign up!

We've been having a bit of trouble with our internet registration pages, so if you registered for a course and didn't hear back from Peggy or Sonja, we would appreciate your contacting us again.

Serge and Gloria have just returned from touring in Russia and teaching in Switzerland and France.

Susan has been teaching Kino Mana and hula in Switzerland, Germany, and Poland.

Ian and Lisy Newton, Wales, were ordained as alakai in September at Serge and Gloria's home in Princeville. The following week, Jim and Ros Uttleymoore, Australia, were ordained as Alaka'i, also at Serge and Gloria's. Ansgar and Sabina Arnieri, Germany were ordained as Alaka'i in Paris in October. We are so delighted to welcome all of them and hope that you will use them as a resource for teaching and healing. They are all willing to help you increase your skills and knowledge.

Paul Waters has completed his move to Florida from Kauai. After some time off, he is working on his next book.

Lois and Earl Stokes have been busy as the new Directors of Huna by Mail. Look for a new look and new products soon! In addition, they are also regularly teaching Hawaiian string figures to a group of home-schooled children on Kauai and participating in local cultural events.
